Miss Maggie V writes....Victorville - Youâll want to be at the High Desert Center for the Arts on March 24, for the Sweet Jam event happening from 7pm â 11pm. Youâre invited to the musical event of the season as this organized open jam session gets underway to entertain the audience and musicians alike. For musicians an open jam session means the opportunity to play with other musicians and enjoy the spontaneous creativity that happens while feeding off the energy of the audience. Local singer-songwriter Maggie Veeâs band will host, as the audience watches it all take shape and gets to enjoy the improv and musician commraderie. Veeâs band consists of Hank Merenda/guitar, Jarvy Dabbs/guitar, Doug Ford/bass Sean Merenda/drums, and Maggie on sax and they are ready to bring the house down in this sloped seating theatre style venue. Any musician that wants to take part in this open jam session is welcomed, although event coordinators suggest that you have at least two years stage experience to pull it off. Thereâs not a whole lot of discussion that will take place on stage as organizers will be moving players on and off the stage for their performances. Some players will come and perform as individuals and other as bands for the jam experience. All genres of music are welcomed. Musicians must call ahead and reserve their performance time. Space is limited. Installed into the Sweet Jam event is the Artist Networking Event and Jammerâs Party in the theatre foyer and gallery a fun mix and mingle event meant for networking and collaboration opportunities for artists of all media. Vendors will be on hand, artists showing work and music products and services being displayed. Beverages will be served from the Dâvine Wine Bar in the theatre foyer and snacks will also be on hand for purchase. A special guest host will be on hand to launch the festivities. For a unique and full night of entertainment tickets can be purchased for the pre-sale price of only $10, 2/$15 or 4/$20. Get your tickets early, because this show will sell out. Participating musicians need not purchase a ticket, but friends and family will need to. For additional sponsor, ticket, musician info, or interviews (760) 684-9093. Partial proceeds for this event go to the HD Center for the Arts.
